May 28, 2024

RIDGID FlexShaft K9-102+ and K9-204+ are the newest versions of Flexshaft drain cleaning machines. This upgraded version has latches around the perimeter to provide easy access to the inside of the machine, an improved cable clamp for increased cable protection, and on-board hex key storage.

RIDGID FlexShaft Machines can quickly and efficiently deliver wall-to-wall clean at high-speed features simultaneous camera usage capability for pipe inspection. These machines utilize powerful chain knockers that expand to the size of the pipe to quickly clear the entire circumference. It is designed to complement and work in conjunction with the RIDGID SeeSnake cameras making obstruction removal simpler and quicker.

To ensure proper usage of the FlexShaft Machines, it is better to check first the condition of the pipes using a compatible SeeSnake Camera. Avoiding to do so can cause ineffective cleaning process and worst can create damage to your pipes. It can also increase the chances of injury due to twisted or broken cable that can harm you physically.

Follow the following steps below in using the simultaneous camera usage capability for proper pipe inspection:

  1. Place the FlexShaft Machine on the ground with the drill shaft in vertical position. Machine should sit squarely and firmly on the ground. Do not operate with the drill shaft horizontal. Tipping will be less likely as a result. Additionally, make sure there are no distractions in the area where you want to work.
  2. Securely attach the drill chuck to the hex of the drill shaft and then set its drill speed in the 1800 to 2500 RPM range. Afterwards, place the direction in the forward position.
  3. Pull cable assembly from the machine and feed it into the drain. At least 1' (0.3 m) of cable must be in drain so that the chain knocker will not come out of the drain and whip around when the machine has started.
  4. Directly route the cable assembly from the machine cable outlet to the drain opening, minimizing exposed cable and changes in direction. Do not tightly bend the cable assembly as this can increase the risk of twisting or breaking.
  5. If you’re using a SeeSnake camera to view the drain cleaning process, it can be fed in at the same time. Typically, the cable assembly and the camera push rod can be gripped and advanced/retrieved simultaneously. Be sure to keep the camera at least 1.5’ ( 0.5 m) behind the chain knocker and do not allow the spinning chain knocker to hit the camera head/push rod or else, it can be damaged.
